Jean Genie - David Bowie(1972)
Firstly, I do appologise for not being on here for a while. I have been a bit busy, these last couple of months so I haven't been focused on my blog at the moment.
I am actually excited to be writing this post, seen as David Bowie is just AMAZING!!! Yeah, that's right.. I am ADDICTED to David Bowie. Seriously, if I could choose a god.. he would be mine. Infact he is mine! I was going to choose The man who sold the world but I thought this was more appropriate for the mood I am in.... Which you will notice I tend to do a lot. So I am just warning you now that I will post what I am in the mood for! and it will change.
You may recognise that there were two television programmes called Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. They follow on from one another in that order. But in all honesty I preferred Ashes to Ashes which again is AMAZING and does have the god damn sexy D.C.I Gene Hunt, who refers to himself as the Jean Genie plus it has Keeley Hawes as inspector Drake, who is just bloody brilliant. But I am not going to talk about Ashes to Ashes because I will ramble on and I don't want to bore you....
Back to David Bowie and his Jean Genie! In all honesty out of the whole song, I have one favourite line which always manages to get stuck in my brain-less head....talking about Monroe, walking on Snow White. I honestly have no idea as to why that is my favourite line throughout the whole song, but it is. So yeah, thought I would tell you that. I think it's to do with the fact that the actress who plays Monroe, Cyndria Foxe who had worked with Andy Warhol along with David Bowie.
I have always had a different taste in music, but I think that is due to the way I have been brought up, however, both my parents have like Bowie. Now they have not forced me to listen to his music, obviously; but I have certainly liked him from a very young age, when I listened to his song Space Oddity. I think I found him attractive when I was a young child.. That would explain a lot really.... Ah, I'm rambling again. I need to stop doing this.... Right, back to Bowie, AGAIN.
Throughout the song as you can tell David Bowie is playing guitar, but also so is another gentlemen. Mick Ronson, who is a very famous guitarist and has done a lot of work with David Bowie and I think was a very close friend of Bowie's, actually. But yeah, them two did a lot of work together in the 1970's when David Bowie was going through his Ziggy Stardust stage which I can admit he was still incredibly sexy.
Although I am doing this blog about the Jean Genie, I would just like to mention my favourite album cover Diamond Dogs, just simply because I love the artwork and how his head has been painted onto a dog like body along with two women who again have been painted on with a dog like body and are portrayed as being suggestive. However, I find this album cover slightly sinical in a way.. I don't know why I do, but its one of those things that I will look into further detail on here knowing me, then I will bore you. So I will hush on that bit, because I just wanted to tell you that was my favourite album cover.
Now I am running out of things to say about Bowie, which is unusual for me, VERY unusual. So I think I might just draw this post to a close and write a lot more about David Bowie and his other AMAZING songs. But like I said, I have to be in the mood for it whether it is a sad song or a completely weird one.
I did say as well, that I wouldn't push you into listening to music that you don't want to listen to. However, I would advise you too have a listen to Bowie. He's just ooft. Words are indescribable of him. He is just incredibly attractive and talented. I would happily marry that man, I don't even care how old he is. If you do like him, I will very much like you and if not, please don't tell me! I will not go about it well. Just bob a comment on your thoughts about the song, or about the almighty David Bowie himself!! :P
